Born in Auckland, New Zealand, Rosie emigrated to San Francisco in 1980. She is now an American citizen living in San Anselmo, Marin County, California.
Originally self-taught as a sculptor she carved her first horse in clay at aged 18. Drawn to the sensual curves of the horse and the human form, her favorite subjects became the horse and human figure. Formal art studies have included acrylic & oil painting, life drawing and watercolor, and raku ceramic sculpture at Academy of Art, San Francisco; the College of Marin, Ross, California, and Auckland University of Technology NZ. She has also attended master classes with notable painters, and sculptors in NZ, UK and California.
Her work has been exhibited in San Francisco, Marin, Santa Barbara, and New York City. A full list of exhibited pieces and awards can be found in Artist History.
Commissions have included a wide array of both horse and human portraits - including a posthumous bust of award-winning violinist Berl Senofsky and a bust in bronze of legendary mezzo-soprano Marilyn Horne - both on display at the Music Academy of the West, Santa Barbara, California.
